MADRID - More than 300 men fell for a Spanish sex scam, paying 124,000 euros ($170,000) in registration fees for the false promise of work as high-class gigolos, police said Tuesday.A total of 310 men replied to national newspaper job advertisements for a bogus male escort agency, which demanded employment fees in advance, national police said in a statement.

Police detained two women in southwestern Spain who were suspected of running the con.One of the women who was picked up in the Mediterranean beach resort of Fuengirola had been arrested twice before for similar cases, police said.

"She would place ads in national newspapers promising highly paid work to men in exchange for them having sex with women who have a high level of purchasing power," police said."The victims would have to pay money beforehand to register in an alleged employment centre."The other woman was believed to have helped run the scam.

Police swooped after receiving complaints from men in several Spanish regions. Spain has an unemployment rate of around 21 percent, the highest level among industrialized nations.

Cryos International says it is no longer accepting samples from redheads due to low demand, reports Britain's Daily Mail. The bank has reached its capacity of 70 litres of semen, and has 600 more potential donors on a waiting list. "There are too many redheads in relation to demand," Ole Schou, director of the bank, told the Danish newspaper Ekstra Bladet. "I do not think you choose a redhead unless the partner - for example, the sterile male - has red hair, or because the lone woman has a preference for redheads. And that's perhaps not so many, especially in the latter case." Only one country still wants redheaded babies: Ireland. Samples sell "like hot cakes" there, said Schou. Cryos is thought to be the world's largest sperm bank. The company says it has the biggest selection of donors and has impregnated 18,731 women since 1991.

 OTTAWA — a man who covertly taped himself having sex with his then-girlfriend was spared jail Tuesday.

Robert Bentham, 26, received a suspended sentence and 12 months of probation after pleading guilty in May to mischief, assault and voyeurism.The Crown had asked for a 15- to 30-day jail sentence and 18 months of probation.

The woman learned of the sex tape before they broke up — at first she just asked him for a copy. The court heard he had never tried to distribute the tape.Bentham had also admitted to slapping the woman and breaking her car's windshield.He became depressed and lost his job after the charges were laid, but Bentham is now flourishing with new work and strong support, the court heard.

 Why-Student gets no-contact order against principal

BENTON CITY, Wash. — A student in Eastern Washington got a restraining order against his school's principal, alleging the man threatened to use a pocketknife to cut off the rosary the youth wears around his neck. Roel Corral, a student at Kiona-Benton City High School, got the restraining order Friday, the Tri-City Herald reported. The principal, Wayne Barrett, was ordered to stay at least 100 feet way from Corral, but on Monday a Benton County judge modified that to 25 feet on school grounds or at school events. Barrett's attorney argued in court that the longer distance would effectively "render him unemployed," and Superintendent Rom Castilleja said it would be impossible for Barrett to obey the original order and do his job, the Herald reported.

Corral alleged that Barrett unfolded a pocketknife at school and threatened to cut off the rosary that Corral was raising, the Herald reported. Rosaries are prohibited because they are associated with gangs, the newspaper said.

PHILADELPHIA — University of Pennsylvania students who were puzzled by a no-show professor later found out why he missed the first day of class: He died months ago. The students were waiting for Henry Teune to teach a political science class at the Ivy League school in Philadelphia on Sept. 13.University officials say that about an hour after the class's start time, an administrator notified students by email that Teune had died. The email apologized for not having canceled the class.Penn junior Mallika Vinekar was among those who waited. She told the student newspaper The Daily Pennsylvanian that they just figured he was late.

Teune died in April at the age of 75.

Bridgette Jordan, 22, from Sandoval, Illinois, stands 2ft 3in (69cm) and also holds the record for shortest living siblings with her 20-year-old brother Brad.Standing at a comparatively lofty 3ft 2in (96.5cm), Brad lists his hobbies as basketball, karate and gymnastics.
