Mr Zhu planned a balcony proposal by crane but after getting a drenching from a woman at the window, it was less Romeo and Juliet – and more like Mr Bean .Mr Zhu rented the crane to lift him to his girlfriend Na Na’s sixth-floor window in Fuyang in eastern China.But when he reached the window and said ‘Na Na, I love you. Please marry me’, he got a basin of water chucked over hm from a woman inside. The sodden lover had no option but to ask the crane operator to let him down after his very public letdown. Sadly for Mr Zhu, the whole episode was captured on camera but neighbours believe it was his girlfriend’s disapproving mother who threw the water.

PARIS - A French schoolboy has dug up a glass jar containing severed human fingers preserved in alcohol which police believe may belong to a local carpenter who lost four digits in an accident 30 years ago.The boy, aged seven, made the gruesome discovery on Monday when he was playing behind the gymnasium of his school in Chilly-Mazarin, just south of Paris, and noticed a jar poking out of the earth, a police spokeswoman said.He dug out the liquid-filled jar and saw the partially decomposed fingers inside.

“With time the jar must have risen to the surface and the fingers were found in well-preserved condition,” the police spokeswoman said.The boy’s father called local police, who set out to track down the origin of the severed digits.

Following local media reports on the story, police received a telephone a call from a person whose grandfather, a woodworker, used to live near the gymnasium and lost four of his fingers 30 years ago in a work accident.

WASHINGTON, Pa. — Police have charged a man in western Pennsylvania with driving drunk twice in the same night — the second time about 15 minutes after they released him into the custody of a friend. Online court records don't list an attorney for 58-year-old Robert Brodnick, of Washington, Pa., who was arrested Monday night by the state police.

Police charge that Brodnick's blood-alcohol limit was at least double what the law allows when he was arrested. Trooper Joseph Christy says troopers released Brodnick to the custody of a "responsible party" but say that person must have dropped of Brodnick at his vehicle because the same trooper who arrested Brodnick saw him driving again.

There have been a number of car surfing cases in Canada, some of them fatal, but none like the one captured on video and sent to QMI Agency. A Quebec provincial police officer can been seen riding on the hood of a cruiser travelling at low speed near Mont-Tremblant, 150 km northwest of Montreal. Pascal Ricard filmed the officer in June and voiced his outrage in an interview with QMI Agency on Wednesday. "This summer, several videos were broadcast that denounce the new (car surfing) trend among some young people," Ricard said. "So I decided to share this video that shows a police officer who did the same thing." The car-surfing cop appeared to be taking video or photos, which would suggest he was reconstructing an accident. There had been a major collision between a car and a transport truck the previous day.

The 13-year-old Asian elephant often puts brush to paper at the Bedfordshire zoo. She grasps the paint brush with her mighty trunk and elegantly paints her masterpieces. Elizabeth Becker, elephant keeper at the zoo, said: 'Karishma really enjoys painting, and it demonstrates just how dexterous elephants' trunks really are.' The female elephant has been at Whipsnade zoo for four years and has mothered one child named George. A special event called Elephant Appreciation Day will be taking place at the zoo this weekend and members of the public will be able to see Karishma's painting collection.
