Why-IT worker arrested for alleged chair urination

An Iowa IT worker faces charges for allegedly urinating on female co-workers' chairs, police said.  The company, Farm Bureau Financial Services, installed surveillance cameras after the women complained about stains on their chairs and allegedly caught the man in the act on Saturday morning, reports the West Des Moines Patch.
The police report said the now-fired employee had access to photos of employees in a database and picked out "attractive females." He'd then return after work hours and urinate on their chairs.
The man faces second-degree criminal mischief charges.

Fun time-Quebec bureaucrats suspended for porn surfing

MONTREAL — Nine Transport Quebec officials were suspended without pay in 2009 after they circumvented web-security protocols to visit porn sites. The department quietly launched an investigation that was detailed in documents obtained by QMI Agency under the Access to Information law. The employees continued to frequent banned sites despite control measures, documents show. "In most cases, it was erotic and pornographic sites," Transport Quebec spokesman Guillaume Paradis said. "There were also some cases of gambling sites."
Paradis said blocking software is designed to prevent employees from surfing sites that promote violence, gambling and erotic content. Transport Quebec employees are also forbidden from visiting social networks such as Facebook.  Five employees were given warnings, nine were suspended without pay for between two to five days, and two were docked seven days' pay.
"This proves that we have taken it very seriously," Paradis said. "We have not hesitated to crack down and we will not hesitate to do so in the future when we see inappropriate behaviour."
The department's message seems to have worked since only one person was reprimanded for visiting "unethical" sites in 2010 and no one was caught in 2011 from among 6,500 employees with access to computers. The internal documents also highlight Internet malfeasance in several other Quebec departments. An education ministry employee received a warning for spending 270 hours surfing the Internet over 59 days last year.  The IT department estimates the employee wasted the equivalent of 44 working days chatting online and using social networking sites.

Good news-Transgender beauty queen back in pageant

TORONTO – A transgender beauty queen who was ousted from the Miss Universe Canada pageant will get to compete after all — so long as she can prove she's a she.
Jenna Talackova, 23, will be allowed to strut the Miss Universe Canada stage with the other 60 finalists, the pageant owned by mogul Donald Trump has decided.
"The Miss Universe organization will allow Jenna Talackova to compete in the 2012 Miss Universe Canada pageant provided she meets the legal gender recognition requirements of Canada, and the standards established by other international competitions,” reads a statement by Trump headquarters in New York City. Talackova said she had final gender reassignment surgery four years ago and is a full-fledged woman. She is holding a press conference Tuesday in Los Angeles. Miss Universe rules require candidates to be "naturally born" female.
Talackova failed to mention on her application that she was born a he, and was punted from the competition last month. The resulting furor went worldwide and included petitions calling for her reinstatement. The pageant runs May 19 at the Bluma Appel Theatre in Toronto.

Caught- MIT Researcher Busted In Online Sex Sting

APRIL 2--After arranging a sexual tryst with a woman and her two minor daughters, a postdoctoral researcher at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology last week flew to Colorado, where he was arrested by federal agents who had ensnared him in an undercover sting.
Yaron Segal, 30, was busted by Department of Homeland Security agents after arriving Wednesday in Grand Junction. He was charged with a pair of felonies, including “traveling with intent to engage in a sexual act with a person under 12.” That count carries a minimum penalty of 30 years in prison. Segal, an Israeli citizen, began working at MIT last year after completing his doctorate at Yale University’s applied physics department. Pictured at right, Segal is currently in federal custody, and prosecutors are seeking his pre-trial detention, according to a U.S. District Court filing

Caught- Accused Prostitute Offered Undercover Officer Sex for Cheeseburgers

During a vice operation late Friday evening, a Florida detective was trolling for hookers when he pulled up to a 47-year-old suspect and “asked if she wanted a ride.” The woman accepted the offer, got in the undercover vehicle, and “engaged in a conversation about sex,” according to a police report. The cop explained that he was looking “to Fuck,” and asked the woman “if she wanted to help me out with that.” The woman, the detective reported, replied that the pair “could go have sexual intercourse if I bought her two double cheese burgers off the dollar menu at McDonald’s.” The cop added, “I agreed to the deal and purchased the hamburgers for $2.75.”
In addition to the cheeseburgers, the woman told the undercover that he could also give her a tip. In response, the cop handed over $60. The woman kept $40, took the McDonald’s grub, and directed the cop to a vacant Bradenton parking lot “to park in to complete the deal.”

Nice-How upper face may divulge when people are not telling the truth

We know our faces may give away our fibs -- whether it's shifty eyes, a sweaty upper lip, a slight smirk, or Pinocchio's fictitious lengthening nose. Now a new study reveals that muscles in the upper face may divulge when people are not telling the truth. Researchers found four different facial muscles that a trained eye can use to separate genuine expressions of emotion from deceptive ones.” Facial cues are an important, but often ignored, aspect of credibility assessments where an emotional issue is in question," says study author Dr. Leanne ten Brinke.
"Cues to emotional deception are likely to occur when the underlying emotion a liar is attempting to mask is relatively strong," suggests ten Brinke of the Centre for the Advancement of Psychological Science and Law at the University of British Columbia - Okanagan.
For the study, published in the journal Evolution and Human Behavior, researchers watched the videotaped facial actions of 52 people who made televised pleas for the safe return of a missing relative. As it turns out, half of the pleas were from deceptive individuals who were later convicted of murdering their loved one. Coders analyzed more than 23,000 frames of video from real-life cases in the US, Canada, Australia, and the UK. They compared the facial actions of 26 genuine pleaders to those of 26 liars. By looking closely, researchers found some facial muscles "leak" signs of our true feelings during these intensely emotional and pressurized pleas to the public.Genuine pleaders showed more contraction of two facial muscles related to grief and sadness: corrugator supercilii, one of the three muscles of the eyelid that helps wrinkle the forehead, and depressor anguli oris, a mouth muscle that is associated with frowning. In liars, they detected subtle contractions of the zygomatic major, a facial muscle linked with masking a smile, and full contraction of the frontalis muscle suggestive of a failed attempt to seem sad
