Why-Thai senator accidentally shoots, kills secretary at restaurant

A Thai senator accidentally shot and killed his personal secretary with a submachine-gun at a restaurant Sunday night, police say. Mae Hong Son senator Boonsong Kowawisarat was eating at a restaurant in Phrae province with his personal assistant and cousin Chanakarn Detkard when Boonsong, 55, took out his gun, the Bangkok Post reported. Boonsong told police the gun accidentally went off and shot Chanakarn, 46, in the stomach. Boonsong told police he was so shocked by what had happened that he couldn't take Chanakarn to the hospital himself. The restaurant owner took her to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead, the Bangkok Post reported. Boonsong will be charged with causing death by negligence but, because he and Chanakarn were relatives and it was an accident, he is unlikely to be sued by his cousin's family, local police told Agence France Presse.

What-Women held captive for two years or more in N.J. bedroom

State police say a drug raid took a "strange twist" when a woman was found padlocked in a bedroom, believed to have been held captive for two years or more in a New Jersey apartment. Investigators found the 44-year-old woman in the Paterson apartment Thursday, identified as the girlfriend of an alleged Latin Kings gang member. The woman was taken to hospital for a medical evaluation, police said. The gang unit says officers found nearly $23,000, 4,200 prescription pills and marijuana. Michael Mendez, 42, is charged with criminal restraint, kidnapping, false imprisonment and drug-related offences. "Information developed during the investigation indicates that Mendez held his girlfriend in the bedroom for extended periods of time over the past two years and possibly longer," police said in a statement Monday.

Why-Strip clubs among cleanest kitchens in Tampa Bay

Tampa, Florida - Seedy, sleazy, seductive... They're words some might use to describe Tampa strip clubs. While the girls up on stage leave little to the imagination, we wondered what was going on behind closed doors, in the kitchens of Bay area adult establishments. "There's always the old jokes,

'I would never eat anything from the buffet at the gentleman's club.' Well we are not your father's gentleman's club anymore," said Scott Megna, Corporate Chef at Tampa's Gold Club on Adamo Drive. His kitchen is one of nearly a half dozen adult establishments across Tampa Bay offering up not just lovely ladies, but full menus of food as well. "When they sit in our dining room they forget where they're at and they think they're at a Ruth's Chris, or a Bern's," says Megna. "Then they get their food and some people tell me this is better than what I get at Bern's!"
