Why-Cashier Refuses to Accept Food Stamps for Cigarettes, is Fired

Food stamps have strangely emerged as one of the wedge issues of right now, in a time where many more Americans are forced to rely on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, due to a decade of economic hardship across the country. Yes, as increasing numbers of Americans receive food stamps, so too does our national ire for those lazy layabouts who have been downsized and foreclosed upon and hit hard times increase. What food stamps can buy, what invasive pee-in-a-cup procedures can be forced upon people and generally beating upon the poor has become somewhat of a horrifying national pastime, with those who are lucky enough to be a paycheck away from the poorhouse often leading up the festivities.
Stupid- Man following GPS drives car into harbor

WHITTIER, Alaska, Aug. 24 (UPI) -- Officials in an Alaskan town said a man unfamiliar with the area drove his car into a harbor on the advice of his GPS unit and survived along with his two dogs. Dave Schofield, director of the Whittier Department of Public Safety, said the man, moving to Alaska from another state, took a right turn into the town's small boat harbor about 400 feet after driving off a ferry, the Anchorage (Alaska) Daily News reported Friday. "The GPS apparently misrouted him and he drove down the ramp for launching boats into the water," Schofield said. "He was unfamiliar with the area is the only answer I have for you." A witness jumped into the water and smashed one of the car's windows, allowing the man and his two dogs to escape, but a cat in a pet carrier did not survive.Schofield said a towing company pulled the car from the water

Excuse-Florida Woman Busted For DUI Tells Cop, “This Is What I Get For Being a Bridesmaid
A Florida woman arrested for drunk driving early this morning expressed the feelings of many other females forced to take part in someone else’s wedding when she told cops, “This is what I get for being a bridesmaid.”
Lesley Falcone, 27--whose Facebook page just hours before the bust noted, “First bachelorette meeting, drink snacks and meeting new people!!!”--was pulled over after an officer allegedly saw her driving almost 20 miles per hour over the speed limit while drifting into oncoming traffic. According to a Manatee County Sheriff’s Office report, Falcone, pictured in the mug shot at left, did poorly on a number of field sobriety tests and refused to continue with the “walk and turn” test. After telling the deputy, “’I’m done and I don’t want to look like a fool,’” she was placed under arrest and charged with DUI.

How-Man bites snake to death in revenge attack

KATHMANDU - A Nepali man who was bitten by a cobra snake bit it back and killed the reptile in a tit-for-tat attack, a newspaper said on Thursday. Nepali daily Annapurna Post said Mohamed Salmo Miya chased the snake, which bit him in his rice paddy on Tuesday, caught it and bit it until it died. "I could have killed it with a stick but bit it with my teeth instead because I was angry," the 55-year-old Miya, who lives in a village some 200 km (125 miles) southeast of the Nepali capital of Kathmandu, was quoted by the daily as saying. The snake, called "goman" in Nepal, is also known as the Common Cobra.
Police official Niraj Shahi said the man, who was being treated at a village health post and was not in danger of dying, would not be charged with killing the snake because the reptile was not among snake species listed as endangered in Nepal.
Wow-Man Robs Hotel with Hot Coffee
A man used hot coffee to pull off a robbery at an Arlington, Va., hotel Tuesday night. About 9:45 p.m. a man threw hot coffee on the front desk attendant at a hotel in the 2400 block of South Glebe Road, police said. He then jumped the counter and took a cash drawer and a cellphone. There was about $450 in the cash drawer. The man fled in a white sedan. A search involving K-9 and a Park Police helicopter did not find the man. The culprit was described as a black man standing 6-feet tall and 170 pounds and wearing a black hat, reading glasses, black athletic jacket, white athletic shorts and white shoes. There’s no word on the hotel attendant’s condition.
Amazing-Molly Palmer of Hawaii Reels Half-ton Marlin

HONOLULU (AP) — A Hawaii tournament fisher fought a 12-foot, half-ton marlin in the Pacific Ocean for more than four hours before she and her teammates got the monster fish out of the water – but she missed out on the glory and thousands of dollars in prize

money. Molly Palmer, 28, would have needed to reel in the fish by herself in order for it to qualify as a valid catch for the tournament, according to rules set by the International Game Fishing Association. But her team helped her pull the massive marlin aboard – so all the Kailua-Kona angler got was a fish story.
