Scary-Man dies after roach-eating competition

A man got sick and died soon after participating in a cockroach-eating contest in Deerfield Beach, Fla., on Friday. Edward Archbold, 32, collapsed and died after gobbling up dozens of live cockroaches and other insects during a bug-eating contest at a pet store. He was one of about 30 contestants in the event, which was part of a midnight madness sale at the Ben Siegel Reptile Store. It's not known what killed him. Officials are awaiting the results of an autopsy. None of the other contestants became ill. "Our thoughts and prayers go out to Eddie's family in this terrible time. Although we just met Eddie the night of the sale, we all liked him right away," store owner Ben Siegel said in a statement issued on Sunday.
All of us here at Ben Siegel Reptiles are sad that we will not get to know Eddie better, for in the short time we knew him, he was very well-liked by all." Siegel has since refrained from commenting on the advice of his lawyer, Luke Lirot. "Some facts that have come out include the fact that all participants in the contest were entirely aware of what they were doing and that they signed thorough waivers accepting responsibility for their participation in this unique and unorthodox contest," Lirot said.
Why-Toy gun removed from campus posters

A video game club at a Halifax university had to take down and redesign its posters because the students' union deemed a cartoon image of a toy gun a violation of its policy. The SMU Gaming Society at Saint Mary's University had prepared posters advertising a gaming event at a student bar. They featured a joystick, a mug of beer and a Nintendo Zapper — a grey and orange plastic gun that was sold with the original Nintendo systems in the '80s. It's the accessory used with the popular game Duck Hunt. But the Saint Mary's University Students' Association (SMUSA), which governs student societies, called the image a violation of the union's poster policy, which forbids images that damage the university community's reputation, reports the SMU Journal, an independent student newspaper.
Writing at Forbes.com, video game journalist Michael Peck poked fun at the situation. "Now college game clubs can't mention guns, because the mere sight of a video game weapon might induce crazoid gamers to disembowel their fellow students with plastic lightsabers. I'm sure the good citizens of Halifax will sleep better tonight, knowing that they've been saved from the Nintendo Apocalypse."

DUNEDIN, Fla - More than 35,000 voters in Dunedin, Palm Harbor and Tarpon Springs received a flier in the mail featuring two topless photos of State Representative Peter Nehr. The fliers were put out by Democratic challenger Carl Z. Zimmermann.  Both men are trying to win the District 65 seat."I think it is a disgusting display of what negative campaigning should not be," said Nehr.Zimmermann feels publishing the photos is not crossing the line and stands by his decision to put them on his campaign flier."Just total embarrassment," replied Zimmermann when asked how he wants voters to respond to the photos.  "It is an embarrassing thing and if it was the only time... but he keeps on doing it."
Nehr told ABC Action News he has no reason to feel embarrassed by what he sees an accomplishment of a 50 lb. weight loss. In 2004, he even allowed other topless photos of himself to be taken and published in a newspaper article focusing on weight loss."He is turning something that I did as a health story, as an inspiration to people, and is trying to turn it into something sleazy, which it is not," Nehr said.Nehr says his pictures are not inappropriate and there is nothing shown that you would not see on television or at the beach.
