A group of tourists spent hours Saturday night looking for a missing woman near Iceland's Eldgja canyon, only to find her among the search party. The group was travelling through Iceland on a tour bus and stopped near the volcanic canyon in the southern highlands Saturday afternoon, reports the Icelandic news organization mbl.is. One of the women on the bus left to change her clothes and freshen up. When she came back, her busmates didn't recognize her. Soon, there was word of a missing passenger. The woman didn't recognize the description of herself, and joined in the search.
About 50 people searched the terrain by vehicles and on foot. The coast guard was even readying a helicopter to help. But the search was called off at about 3 a.m., when it became clear the missing woman was, in fact, accounted for and searching for herself.

The name of a new men's clothing store in India has caused a furor. Rajesh Shah, the owner of the shop called Hitler, with a swastika dotting the I, claims he didn't know about the famous fascist leader until recently. "I didn't know how much the name would disturb people," he told AFP. "It was only when the store opened I learnt Hitler had killed six million people." Shah said Hitler is the nickname of a co-owner's grandfather, according to the Times of India. It was given to him because he was a strict man. The tiny Jewish community in Ahmedabad is not convinced. "He feigned ignorance about Hitler ... But after we left, we began to believe that he may have been aware about all this and was just pretending to be ignorant," Menasseh Solomon, secretary of the local synagogue, told the Indian Express

A Spanish magazine cover depicting Michelle Obama as a black slave with one breast exposed has some people crying foul. The cover of Spain's Fuera de Serie features the first lady's face superimposed over the famous 1800 painting "Portrait d'une Negresse" by French feminist artist Marie-Guillemine Benoist. The doctored image is not the
magazine's creation. It was taken from the "Famous Nudes" series by artist Karine Percheron-Daniels, who describes her work as trying "to offer an alternative unexpected reality to allow the viewer to re-examine his unique subjective experience and general understanding and view the world and people in a different way." The description of the article, titled "Michelle: Great-great-granddaughter of a Slave, Owner of America," on the magazine's website appears to describe a positive profile of the former lawyer and first African-American first lady. "In the shadow of the U.S. president is a person whose popularity ratings exceed those of Barack. This person is none other than his wife Michelle, who stars in the cover of the magazine this week," reads the description as roughly translated from Spanish.

EDMONTON - An Edmonton dad was sentenced to 12 years in prison Tuesday after pleading guilty to sexually abusing his young daughter on film and distributing it online. The 38-year-old man -- who cannot be named under a court-ordered publication ban protecting the identity of his children -- admitted to owning, making and distributing child pornography of his children. In her decision Tuesday, Justice Elizabeth Johnson wrote that the man’s crimes have had a devastating effect on the family, not just emotionally but financially. “The offender chose his seven-year-old daughter as his sexual plaything,” wrote Johnson. “The offender chose the youngest and consequently most vulnerable and voiceless member of his family as the target of his assaultive behavior.”
The man admitted to sexually abusing his now seven-year-old daughter from the time she was in diapers as well as secretly filming his other two daughters, 13 and 18, while in the shower. The man then posted the videos and photos online and shared them with other perverts in international chat rooms, which Johnson wrote “smacks of voyeurism.” Several of the assaults took place in the family’s home, the court heard, and the children’s mother was unaware of the assaults. Johnson wrote that the mother’s victim impact statements were “dignified and heartbreaking.”

AUGUST 28--A South Carolina woman is facing child negligence charges after she was allegedly spotted giving her four-year-old son “shots” of beer at a bar Saturday night, police report. Gretchen Lynn Kinnear, 44, was busted following the incident at McHale’s Irish Pub in Fort Mill, a town 18 miles south of Charlotte, North Carolina. Pictured in the adjacent mug shot, Kinnear was booked into the York County Detention Center for contributing to the delinquency of a minor (she was later released on $3000 bond).
According to a York County Sheriff’s Office report, bar patron Matthew Wray told deputies that he saw Kinnear give her child “about three ‘shots’ of beer.” This occurred, Wray added, after he “had the manager and the waitress ask her to stop” providing the boy with alcohol. When questioned by investigators, Kinnear copped to sharing “blonde beer” samples that were provided to her in shot glasses. She admitted doing this “at least twice while inside the bar,” deputies reported.
Describing the beverage his mother gave him as “tea,” the boy told deputies that the drink tasted funny and made him laugh a lot.” The child “also said that the ‘tea’ that his mom gives him makes him dizzy. “The boy also revealed that his mother gave him similar “tea” at home. Asked about this, Kinnear acknowledged that “about once or twice a week she drinks wine at her home” and allows her son “to have some.”
