Weird-Accused Abuser Claimed "Ghost" Injured His Wife

JANUARY 20--A Wisconsin man charged with domestic abuse told cops that a “ghost” was actually responsible for injuries suffered by his wife, according to police.
The bizarre claim by Michael West, 41, did not prevent the Fond du Lac man’s arrest for strangulation, battery, disorderly conduct, and resisting arrest. West is pictured in the mug shot at right.rding to a January 18 criminal complaint, West and his spouse got into an argument Sunday that turned violent. The victim told cops that West twice strangled her, and that he punched her in the face when she tried to dial 911.When cops arrived at the couple’s home, the crying woman was bleeding from the nose and had blood on her Packers jersey.
During police questioning, West claimed his wife sustained her injuries to her face and neck during several falls. When pressed by a cop--who pointed to marks on the woman’s neck--the intoxicated West shifted his story. “A ghost did it,” he said.In light of the apparition claim, officers sought to place West in custody. After a struggle, he was handcuffed and transported to the county lockup, where he remains in custody in lieu of $1000 bail.

World Record -A restaurant is selling $100 hot dog

VANCOUVERVancouver, known for its bustling street food scene, will also soon be known as home to the “most expensive hot dog in the world” – a $100 cognac-infused sausage topped with oil-seared Kobe beef, lobster meat and a picante sauce. “When you come up with a $100 hot dog, you’ve got to have a good idea,” said DougieDog owner Dougie Luv of the Dragon Dog.
The foot-long bratwurst is infused with 100-year-old Louis XIII cognac – which has a $2,000 price tag of its own – and must be ordered 12 hours in advance so fresh ingredients can be prepped.
The current titleholder for the Guinness World Record for most expensive hot dog is New York City restaurant Serendipity 3, which introduced a $69 hot dog to its menu in July 2010.
Luv’s creative concoction is named for the Year of the Dragon and for CBC’s Dragon’s Den, on which the Vancouver-based restaurateur will make an appearance Wednesday evening.

Why-Woman gets 11-day jail sentence for overdue library books

MONTREAL — A woman who refused to pay a $235 fine for overdue library books was sentenced to 11 days in a Montreal jail.
A 20-cent-a-day late fee issued in 2007 escalated into an arrest warrant, and the woman was picked up while driving her car on a highway east of Montreal on Tuesday.
The library in the Montreal suburb of Repentigny began tallying the woman's fine after she failed to return five books on Oct.17, 2007. The city sent warnings and an invoice, which it says were ignored.
The municipality obtained a ruling of non-payment against the woman in October 2008.

Wow-Teen Calls Cops When She Hears Mom Having Sex

JANUARY 23--A Florida teenager who called 911 last week asked police to place her in a Christian children’s shelter because she “heard her mother having sex.”
Responding to a domestic disturbance call Thursday around , a cop questioned the mother and daughter at their Panama City residence, according to a police report. The duo had been involved in a “verbal altercation,” a cop noted. The girl, 15, told an officer that she wanted to go to a local shelter “because she heard her mother having sex” and “felt disrespected” by her 35-year-old parent’s actions. The teen acknowledged that “there was no form of abuse or neglect in the house.”The mother explained to police that she had invited her boyfriend over and “sometime during the visit, her daughter heard them having sex and became upset.” The woman added that “their bedrooms are next to each other and she didn’t intend to wake her daughter up.”After speaking with a representative from the shelter, the teen decided that she did not want to leave her home because “it was almost time for school.”
The Panama City Police Department cop reported leaving a domestic rights brochure at the residence.

Damages- Ex-judge sues city for badminton injury, wins $30Gs

The city of Halifax is on the hook for $30,000 in damages after a retired Nova Scotia judge sued the city because she injured her knee playing badminton at a municipally-owned gym.
In the decision released Monday, Justice Pierre L. Muise of the Supreme Court of Nova Scotia awarded Elizabeth Roscoe $25,000 in general damages, $3,593 for treatment and therapy and $1,290 for golf cart rentals, which, with pre-judgment interest totals $30,280.48.
In March 2008, Roscoe was playing badminton in the Bob Douglas Gym, a facility owned by the Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM).
"As she was moving backwards to return a high shot, her right foot was suddenly stopped," the decision said. Roscoe felt "immediate pain in her right knee" and noticed a piece of duct tape on the floor where her foot was stopped. She had to stop playing and was diagnosed with a torn meniscus.
"I find the injury would not have occurred but for the presence of the duct tape," Muise wrote.

What-Woman claims dad locked her in bathroom for 10 years

RAMALLAH - A 21-year-old Palestinian woman has told authorities she was locked in a bathroom for the past decade by her father, who let her out only in the dead of night so she could clean their house.
“People are monsters,” Baraa Melhem said her father would tell her, according to a social worker dealing with the case.
Palestinian police said on Monday they freed Melhem from the small bathroom of a home in the West Bank city of Qalqilya on Saturday after an anonymous tip.
Her father, who holds Israeli citizenship, was arrested and handed over to Israeli authorities. He is due to appear in an Israeli court on Wednesday, an Israeli police spokesman said.
Melhem told Voice of Palestine radio that when she was 11, her father confined her to the toilet and did not allow her to go to school or see her mother, whom he had divorced.

New-Controversial sex ed. game to get sequel

LONDON, Ont. – London health officials are launching a sequel to their controversial online sex-ed game for young people that features such characters as Wonder Vag and the Sperminator.
In the sequel, the virgin with the Barbie-doll figure will be caged and the Sperminator will have lost his penis-arms and become a force for good.
The original Adventures in Sex City, an online game from the Middlesex-London Health Unit, were banned by officials with the London District Catholic school board because it ran afoul of the school's official stance on abstinence. In the original version, the infected Sperminator fired sperm from penis-shaped arms at characters such as virginal Wonder Vag, who when struck might say, "Aggg! Right in the face." While the original will be kept available at Getitonlondon.ca, a second version will officially launch Feb. 14 during Sexual Awareness Week.
In the new version, Wonder Vag has been kidnapped by her evil twin, Bloody Mary, and placed in a cage at a bar where, unless she's rescued, she'll be forced to drink alcohol.
Trying to rescue her is a team of superheroes that now includes the Sperminator, cured of his sexually transmitted illness and with no more penises as appendages.
Players are asked questions related to sexual health and risky behaviour brought on by the use of alcohol and drugs. If enough questions are answered correctly, Wonder Vag is freed and Bloody Mary falls in a drunken stupor and vomits. The point of the game is to teach youth how getting intoxicated can lead to risky sexual practices.
"It's really for the youth," said Shaya Dhinsa, manager of sexual health for the health unit.

Fraud-Dentist admits to using paper clips in root canals

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. — A former dentist in Massachusetts has pleaded guilty to Medicaid fraud for using paper clips instead of stainless steel posts in root canals.
Michael Clair is scheduled to be sentenced next Monday after pleading guilty last week in New Bedford Superior Court to a variety of charges, including defrauding Medicaid of $130,000 assault and battery, illegally prescribing prescription drugs and witness intimidation.Prosecutors say the 53-year-old Clair was suspended by Medicaid in 2002, but continued to file claims from August 2003 to June 2005 by using the names of other dentists in his Fall River practice.Authorities say instead of stainless steel posts for root canals, he used sections of paper clips — which can cause pain and even infection — in an effort to save money.

What-Sign outside NYC school misspells it as 'Shcool'

NEW YORK -- A glaring misspelling on a street sign outside a Manhattan high school has some laughing that the mistake’s gone unreported for months and stauncher critics condemning what they perceive to be a symbol of the “dumbing down" of American society. The painted pavement on
Stanton Street
outside Marta Valle High School reads "SHCOOL X-NG."
The Department of Transportation claims the mistake was made by a utility provider, not the city, according to The New York Post. The agency said it would reach out to the contractor to have the error fixed.
