A man who lost his penis to flesh-eating bacteria after penile implant surgery was unsuccessful in suing the anesthesiologist who'd cleared him for the procedure. Enrique Milla was 60 when he underwent surgery in 2007 to correct erectile dysfunction, but had to have his penis amputated after he developed a gangrenous infection about nine days later, according to the report by Courthouse News Service. Milla sought millions in compensation because, he contended, Dr. Laurentiu Boeru overlooked his diabetes and high blood pressure, which would impede his recovery, the report said. A Miami jury cleared Boeru Tuesday in deciding he had not been negligent. Milla previously settled out of court with Dr. Paul Perito, the urologist who performed the operation, CNS said.

EDMONTON — A Leduc, Alta., man who posted nude photos of his 16-year-old girlfriend on the Internet and used them to try to blackmail sex from her was put behind bars Wednesday. Matthew Cody Brown, 21, was handed a 32-month prison sentence for extortion and possession and distribution of child pornography.Judge Stephen Hillier described Brown's actions as "exploitative abuse" and called his behaviour "reprehensible" and "callous" with a "clear intention to both embarrass and intimidate" the victim.Brown, who apologized just before being sentenced, was given six months of credit for time already served, leaving him with 26 months to go. He was also ordered to submit a DNA sample for the national DNA databank in Ottawa and will be listed in the national sex offender registry for life.Court heard Brown dated the victim for about a year, starting in January 2009, and knew she was 16 going on 17.The girl, who cannot be identified, reluctantly agreed to pose for nude photos after Brown urged her and promised the images would remain private. Despite his vow, Brown posted the naked images online.The girl confronted Brown, but they continued dating for six months after he promised not to do it again.Then, several months after the girl eventually broke up with him, Brown posted more naked photos of her on a pornographic website along with her name, phone number and e-mail address.The girl received 50 phone calls and about 100 e-mails with crude and strange messages from people who saw the photos.She ended up contacting Brown on Facebook. He said he was upset that she had never returned his video game system. He then told her he would stop posting her nude photos online if she agreed to have sex with him. She contacted police and Brown was arrested.
Hillier noted the online chats showed the "malice and determination" with which he "extorted and humiliated" the victim and the fact Brown thought it was "too funny."Defence lawyer John Sinclair suggested Brown "tried to get his girlfriend back" in an "immature and unsophisticated way," but the judge clearly rejected the submission."This offender wanted sex with this person, that's all," Hillier said.The judge concluded Brown's actions were "blatantly unlawful conduct," which "simply will not be tolerated."Brown, who was sporting a black eye, told court that what he did was wrong and he's really sorry."I shouldn't have done it and I wish she was here so I could say it to her face," Brown said.
